HIV/Hepatitis Service
The overall aim of the HIV/Hepatitis service is to reduce the spread of blood borne viruses (HIV, Hepatitis B and C) and to provide support to those who are affected by HIV/AIDS or Hepatitis B or C.
The main features of the service are:
- One to one counselling available for those affected by HIV/AIDS or Hepatitis
- Drop-in Hep A & B vaccination clinic available every Monday afternoon
- Advice on ways to reduce the risk of transmission of blood borne pathogens provided through the needle exchange service and through a range of outreach locations
- Advice to people who are HIV or Hep B or C positive on ways of minimising the risk of transmission to others
- Distribution of leaflets /factual information to service users
- Maintenance of library resource on HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis B and C
- Training / Consultancy to other agencies on issues relating to HIV/AIDS/Hepatitis
- Liaison and referral to other appropriate services.
